Time Flies

  • Time never stops. It rushes forward, Never waiting for anyone. I can’t quite fathom How quickly time slipped past me. Moments turned to days, Days to years, And years—half a century— All in the blink of an eye. The past haunts me, A bundle of unfinished accounts Weighing down my soul. Life’s highs and lows tug at me, Yet here I am, still breathing, Still moving forward. Half a century has passed! And yet—what a paradox— The clock I bought a decade ago Stopped ticking a year back. The sapling I planted in my yard Vanished just last month. Fifty years in this body— But who can measure The age of the mind? Perhaps it spans centuries, Timeless and untethered. Now I stand encircled by Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, A swirling, endless loop. How strange it feels to realize How many precious moments Have simply flown away! Time is like that— It waits for no one. Kannada Original: Nataraj Talaghattapura English Translation: Uday Itagi

    Time flies just like that...

    It doesn’t wait for anybody

    I really don’t know how

The time in my case passed on

    The moments turned as days

    The days as years

And the years as a half century

    All, all this happened

Just before I closed and opened my eyes!

    With the haunting of past,

With a bundle of accounts to clear,

And with ups and downs in my life

    I still keep breathing!

    What a surprise

Half a century is already passed!

But the clock that I bought it ten years ago

Has stopped working since a year!

The plant I planted in the yard

    Disappeared a month ago!

Oops, half a century is gone!

    But who knows

How many centuries will my mind be wandering here?

    I am now encircled by

    Yesterday, today and tomorrow

Where everything is swirling around me

How surprise it is to know that

Time never stops. How many moments of my life

    Flew away just like that!

The time is like this only

    It doesn’t wait for anybody!?
